WASHINGTON D.C. DERMATOLOGICAL SOCIETY MEETING MINUTES

OLD BUSINESS:
- The November minutes from Fairfax Hospital meeting were unanimously approved.
- Dr. Giannelli gave an update on the membership dues received. 80% of the members have
paid their membership dues as well as their Atlantic Dermatological Conference (ADC)
pre-registration fees. The deadline of January 31, 2006 for pre-registration has been
extended to February 15, 2006. After this date, the ADC registration and D.C. Derm
membership fee will increase to $475. As payments are received, the website membership
directory will be updated.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Dr. Sandra Read thanked Dr. L. Kauffman and the Georgetown University Dept.
of Dermatology for hosting a very interesting meeting. Dr. Read also thanked
Dr. D. Rigel for an excellent "Skin Cancer Update" lecture.
- Dr. Sandra Read gave an update on the upcoming ADC. All committees are
on schedule. The meeting dates are April 28-30, 2006.
- The ADC clinical committee chair, Dr. L. McKinley-Grant, reminded all members
to contribute interesting cases for possible presentation. All cases must
be received by February 24, 2006.
- Dr. Giannelli announced the application of Dr. Michelle Mak-Fung for membership
to the Society. The application has been sponsored by Dr. C. Williams and
Dr. N. Mattay.
- Please email the Society with any comments you may have on new applicants
being proposed for membership.
- Dr. M. Welch gave an update on the Souse and Senate skin cancer screenings
of May 2006. The dates are May 3rd (House), May 6th (site to be determined),
and May 10th (Senate). All volunteers will be asked to choose between 10am
- 12pm slots and the 12pm - 2pm slots. A minimum of twelve volunteers are
needed for each screening date. Please register soon. You may contact Dr.

- Dr. Sandra Read announced the "I PLEDGE" symposium recently added to the
AAD meeting in San Francisco. No registration is necessary. Dr. Read also
discussed the Petition for Comprehensive Medical Liability Reform.
- The Society website will be posting updated meeting schedules as well as
job offers in our area.
- The next meeting is scheduled for May 23, 2006 at the National Institutes
of Health.
