WASHINGTON D.C. DERMATOLOGICAL SOCIETY MEETING MINUTES

OLD BUSINESS:

1. The September minutes were unanimously approved.
2. The December deadline for membership dues is approaching. Please send your dues payment to:

3. The Society Vice President, Dr. Mark Welch is looking for volunteers for the annual Congressional Skin Cancer Screening of May 2006. Twenty-five volunteers are needed and eighteen have signed up so far. The probable dates are May 3rd and May 10th 2006. An update will be given at the next meeting.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. The Society President, Dr. Sandra Read, gave an update on the financial status of the Atlantic Dermatology Organizing Committee. Sponsor contributions are at $165,000 so far. More is needed! Please contact Dr. Read if you know of any possible sponsor interested in contributing.
2. The ADC clinical chair, Dr. Lynn McKinley-Grant, reported that half of the cases needed for the meeting have been presented by the contributing institutions. If any member has any interesting medical or surgical case, please contact her. All protocols must be ready for the printer by March 15, 2006.
3. Dr. Scott Norton gave an update on Mesotherapy associated complications in Virginia. This is an emerging dermatological procedure not approved by the FDA. This outbreak is being monitored by the CDC.
4. Dr. Jeff Harvell’s application for membership to the society has been unanimously approved. Dr. Giannelli welcomed Dr. Harvell to the Society.
5. Please e-mail the Society at washdcderm@msn.com with any comments you may have on new applicants being proposed for membership in the future.
6. The next meeting will take place on January 31, 2006 at the Georgetown University Hospital.
7. Dr. Read thanked the guest speaker, Dr. Kelly Cordoro, for an excellent presentation and Dr. Julie Henry and the Fairfax Hospital Faculty for an excellent meeting.
