NEWS - March 2006

The Society thanks Dr. Lisa Kaufmann, Dr. Kevin Hogan & Dr. Angela Lotsikas-Baggili at Georgetown University for hosting another great meeting on January 31, 2006. Dr. Daryl Rigel presented an excellent “Update on Skin Cancer.”

Our Society will once again be participating with the AAD’s program to promote skin cancer awareness in May 2006 by conducting skin cancer screenings. This year we will be conducting 2 screenings on Capitol Hill. On May 3rd and May 10th we will be screening House and Senate members and staff. Additionally, on May 6th, skin cancer screenings will be conducted in Washington, D.C. as part of an AAD national campaign to conduct the most skin cancer screenings in one day. I hope you will be able to participate in these screenings. Please contact Dr. Mark Welch at mlwelch@hotmail.com or 301-564-3131 to volunteer.

As you know, the Atlantic Dermatological Conference is rapidly approaching on April 28th – 30th. You should have received your registration form in the mail by now. You can also obtain your registration form online at our website. Go to conference page for information and registration. D.C. Dermatology Members – even though you have paid your registration fee, you must still register. Speakers – please complete your confirmation disclosures and information.

An important part of the Atlantic Dermatological Conference is the patient viewing. It’s what sets this meeting apart from the others. Dr. Lynn McKinley-Grant and her hard-working committee are still in need of clinical cases! Please contact her immediately her at mckgrant@aol.com or 301-941-8166 if you have patients to present.

Lastly, I am pleased to inform you that the Society’s president, Dr. Sandra Read, has been nominated for the slate of candidates for the AAD’s Board of Directors. I hope our members will vote in this important election. Approximately only 40% of the AAD’s members vote in elections. Let’s beat those numbers.
